Homilies from the Traffic Police

Cochin is a city with crumbling roads and speeding buses manned by crazed drivers. Nobody, nobody, it seems, can get the roads in motorable condition and discipline the bus drivers. In the face of this, the attempts of the traffic police to preach to the public at large are laughable. Here is a typical piece of advice for the pedestrian from the traffic police. Has whoever drafted this been watching too many Bollywood films? Or is the advice meant for school kids? No talking while walking?? Give me another! And “playing”? What was the guy who thought this up smoking?

A better piece of advice would be the following: Do not look at pretty ladies (or even pictures of pretty ladies, such as the one below) while crossing the road.
