USP of Battery-Driven Scooters

Seated in an auto, heading for some long-forgotten destination, I was awakened from my reverie by the auto driver pointing out a vehicle on the road. It was a battery-powered scooter.

The driver proceeded to give the scooter’s salient features: limited top speed, limited range, but ideal for in-city driving. No need for a driving license. And no need to be sober while driving.

Yes, you heard me right, these vehicles are exempt from the “do not mix drinking and driving” rule. One can be stewed to the gills and pickled to the eyebrows, but the cops can only watch helplessly. Surely a USP the scooter’s marketers should be aggressively promoting, especially in alcohol-loving Kerala?
