Defending the Hijab?


I’d posted against the French ban on the hijab earlier, but I cannot agree with the above. I don’t see any “contempt for the wog” in the letter referred to in the article. Nor is anyone arguing that the “bare display of female flesh” is synonymous with emancipation. In fact, the smiling face in a hijab that adorns the article is also a “bare display of female flesh.”

Look, I agree that women have the right to wear the hijab if they choose to. But that does not mean I think they should wear it. Is the writer defending the practice of wearing the hijab?
