The Void

“That, of course, is true of everything, of all human endeavor, which is an expression of futility in the face of the void. Salinger understood this, maybe because of a nervous breakdown he is said to have experienced during World War II, maybe because of his embrace of Buddhism.”

I love this quote. I also like the song “Dust in the Wind.”

How should we handle this void? We spin like dervishes through life, busying ourselves with this and that, but some day we will have to confront the void.

To find meaning despite the void. It’s tough but possible; no, not possible but imperative, and and most of us succeed.
