The Perfection of an Ideal Connection

I’d written earlier that I photographed insects. Well, several of you have been demanding documentary evidence. Trust, I tell you, is a scarce commodity these days. 🙂 Right, you did ask for it, so here goes. This picture, of course, is just a preview; if anyone requires the full monty, drop me a line.

The butterflies are engaged in an act that is woven into the very fabric of life. No surprises there. What is unusual is the bedroom they have chosen: a telephone line. There’s a wonderful lesson on adaptability here. They’d prefer open grassland alright, but if a telephone line is what’s available, then they’ll make do with that without complaining, thank you.

I’m reminded of the following limerick. The prudes among you can avert your eyes now.

“Last night,” said a lassie named Ruth,

“In a long distance telephone booth,

I enjoyed the perfection

Of an ideal connection —

I was screwed, if you must know the truth.”
