Butterflies of Cochin: The Blue Mormon

The Blue Mormon is the second largest butterfly found in India (the largest being the Southern Birdwing). I’d caught momentary glimpses and taken unsatisfactory pics of the Blue Mormon on the wing earlier, so I was thrilled at this, my first clear capture — and that too in the heart of the city. I love the milky blue color, and the contrast with black is stunning. This butterfly is a personal favorite.
