On Eating a Caterpillar

At Ojeen today evening for my evening snack, I noticed a new dish under the glass counter. I could hardly believe my ears when I asked what it was: “Chicken masala caterpillar!” Naturally, I ordered it forthwith, and when the boy deposited it on my table, I asked him for the name. Could I have misheard? No, it really is chicken masala caterpillar. I suppose it is the segmented appearance of the outer covering that led to some imaginative soul conjuring up this name. “New dish,” the boy informed me. And, yes, it was good.

I also ordered duck’s eggs, and washed down everything with hot tea. A terrific Malabar snack!
